2. Overview
The A Watch Affair App ("App") is an iOS application for watch enthusiasts. Protecting your data is our highest priority.
In short: The App does not collect any personal data, does not use cookies, and does not employ any tracking or analytics SDKs. All personal data (watch collection, notes, settings) is stored exclusively on your device and never leaves it.
3. Local Data Storage
The App stores all user data (watch collection, diary entries, wear logs, service records, settings) exclusively on your device using Apple SwiftData. The App does not use CloudKit or iCloud Drive — no active synchronisation or transmission of your data is initiated by the App.
iCloud Device Backup: iOS automatically includes local app data in iCloud Backup if you have enabled this feature in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup. The App does not explicitly exclude its data from this backup; your collection data may therefore be included in a device backup. This backup is performed solely by Apple and is subject to the Apple Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
If you wish to prevent your App data from being backed up, you can disable iCloud Backup for this App under Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup → manage storage → Apps.
4. Secure Key Storage (iOS Keychain)
Internal app settings that require secure storage are saved in the iOS Keychain — an encrypted storage provided by Apple, protected by your device's security (Face ID, Touch ID, passcode). This data never leaves your device.
5. Article Content (Supabase)
The App retrieves published magazine articles from A Watch Affair via Supabase Inc. Your IP address is technically transmitted to Supabase's servers during this process. No personal data is sent to or permanently stored by Supabase. All transmissions are encrypted (HTTPS). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing the service).
6. Third-Party RSS Feeds
The App allows you to add external RSS feeds. When fetching these feeds, your IP address is transmitted to the respective feed providers. The App does not store any personal data with third-party providers and has no influence over their privacy practices. Please review the privacy policies of any third-party feeds you add.
7. Push Notifications (Apple APNs)
If you enable push notifications, these are delivered via Apple's Push Notification Service (APNs). Technical identifiers (push tokens) are transmitted to Apple. Apple processes this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy. You can disable push notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → A Watch Affair.
8. Apple Services (App Store, Crash Reports)
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store, which is subject to Apple Inc.'s privacy policies. Apple may collect aggregated usage statistics and crash reports as part of its operating system and App Store services. The App itself does not transmit crash reports or telemetry data to any third party. More information: Apple Privacy Policy.
9. No Analytics or Tracking
The App contains no analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. No usage statistics are collected, no user behaviour is recorded, and no data is shared with advertising networks or third-party services.
10. Your Rights
Since the App itself does not collect or process personal data, most GDPR rights do not apply in relation to us directly. All locally stored data can be completely removed at any time by uninstalling the App. For data technically transmitted via Supabase requests, please contact: hello@awatchaffair.com
11. Right to Lodge a Complaint
